In order to see results, 3 HIFU treatment sessions every 1 months is needed. On average, most patients need 1 HIFU treatment per year to achieve and maintain their results. This is because Smart Sonic is a medical-grade HIFU treatment device.
Medical-grade HIFU devices stimulate collagen production over weeks and months. Results can be visible in 2-3 months and peak around 6 months. Following which, the results are maintained from 6 to 18 months, depending on the individual’s genetics, skin condition and ability to produce new collagen.

Mild Pain
- Some patients may feel some sensation of pricking and heat during a HIFU Treatment – but this is only felt during the treatment. There is no further pain felt after the procedure. A numbing cream can be administered on the target area if there is intense pain. However, this is very rare.

Numbness
- The waves from the HIFU procedure penetrate through the deep layers of the skin to reach the dermis and superficial muscular aponeurotic systems layer (SMAS). This technique occasionally may cause minor damage and may lead to a feeling of numbness. The tingling sensation occurs in delicate areas, like the lips and eyes. Note that this side effect is very rare.

Blotching of skin
- Patients with sensitive skin experience this side effect. The targeted area becomes red and blotchy, but they’re not permanent and will subside a few hours after the treatment. As an aesthetic clinic, we have the necessary creams to help to settle blotchy areas of your skin.

Swelling
- Since each individual’s skin is different, some may experience bloating and swelling. This is a rare side effect of HIFU facial treatments. The swelling will disappear a few days after treatment. Then you can notice the age-rewinding benefits of your treatment.
- Smart Sonic HIFU, being a latest generation HIFU Treatment, offers the same effective results but with fewer side effects.
There’s minimal discomfort as you may feel a heat sensation or slight pain that may last for a few seconds during the procedure. The warm pulses of energy cause the collagen and muscle layers to contract. This is just a good sign that collagen production is taking place. Some patients find this uncomfortable, but others reported feeling no pain. Third generation HIFU Treatments, such as Smart Sonic HIFU, are still as effective but come with less to no pain at all.
Usually, a patient treated with HIFU can still produce new collagen a year following the procedure, which may continue for another year depending on the patient’s condition and lifestyle. Overall, the results last for a long time and patients may expect it to stay from one to three years.
